New Station Design Process and Improvements

WHAT THE STANDARD IS: Splash is committed to continued innovation driven by our users and each of our global offices.  This commitment is manifested by our past and current station design and improvement process.  This process involves both the drinking water stations and the handwashing stations.

Splash has spent the past decade recognizing and addressing the need for child-friendly, durable, and easy-to-maintain stations in the child-serving institutions of the cities where we work.  Throughout these years, Splash has not settled for good enough when there is still room for improvement in the stations that we install or in the methods by which we install them.  Splash operates under two parallel commitments: installing necessary stations for drinking water and handwashing, while continually designing and improving the next stations that we will install.

Our station design and improvement process is not limited to just the stations; it also is focused on the associated hardware (plumbing, taps, and other fixtures) as well as how the station and hardware are installed and maintained.  For example, we know that the location of handwashing stations can impact handwashing rates, so we study the rates of handwashing for different locations in order to optimize every facet of our implementation strategy to increase improved outcomes.

The station design and improvement process is managed by the Global WASH Infrastructure Manager, but each local WASH Infrastructure Team is responsible for recognizing, evaluating, and communicating potential improvements that can be made to the stations or our processes.
